What is an Acceptance Test Technician?
A Lighting Controls Acceptance Test Technician (ATT) is an installation technician certified to perform nonresidential acceptance testing for lighting controls. You are not required to be a certified general electrician to apply.
An ATT must work under, or become, a certified Acceptance Test Employer (ATE) to perform acceptance testing. You'll add your employer in Step 3.
Prerequisites
Before submitting your application, create a free account on the NEMA Academy and complete these lighting-controls modules. Note: there is an additional $50 NEMA fee.
- EE 101 — Introduction to Lighting Control
- EE 102 — Switching Control (102A & 102B)
- EE 103 — Dimming Control (Parts 1 & 2)
- EE 105 — Lighting Control System Design (Parts 1–3)
- EE 110 — Commissioning & Lighting Controls
- EE 201 — Daylight-Responsive Lighting Control
The application process
- 1Create an account and complete your personal information.
- 2Complete the company information and upload your documents.
- 3NLCAA reviews your application and emails you upon approval.
- 4Log in to make payment and schedule your class.
- 5Attend the 2-day online + 1-day in-person class and pass the final quiz with 75% or better.
- 6NLCAA emails your ATT number and certificate.
